Vassen Butterfly Pink Circle Lens Review

Press Sample

I love circle lenses, the way they enlarge my eyes and being able to change up my eye colour whenever I want to. Having Butterfly Pink eyes sounds so darn magical, so when I was contacted by Maple Lens to try a couple of their circle lenses I was immediately drawn to the Vassen Butterfly Pink lens. I have another pair of pink circle lens and I absolutely ADORE them, so I decided to try these out.

Maple Lens is a circle lens store based in Malaysia and provides genuine Korean circle lenses. Shipping was pretty fast, within 5 days, and they came very nicely and securely packaged, with a pink box for storage while unopened and animal lens cases for once you open them. I was very impressed with everything they included and the way the glass bottles the lenses were safe and secure.

From the Maple Lens website:

Vassen Butterfly Pink

Price: $21.95
Diameter : 14.5mm
Water Content : 42%
Base Curve : 8.6mm
Life Span : 1 Year Disposal

The Butterfly Pink lenses have a thick black limbal ring and pink to gold pattern that looks almost like a butterfly wing. The colour does not blend into my natural eye colour like some of my other lenses, but contrasts rather strikingly.

I did a quick little video just to show you how the lenses come and how to open them, what the actual lens looks like and how they look on.

The lenses were quite comfortable, although I did apply eyedrops when I first put them in just in case. They are very vibrant and have a distinct pattern in natural indoor light and daylight as well as artificial light, so they are definitely more for people who like bright and colourful lenses that are noticeable as opposed to a more natural look. The lenses have a decent enlarging effect as well and give me that pretty dolly eye appearance. I wore them for 5+ hours and they felt pretty comfortable, but I think if I wore them any longer I'd have to reapply eyedrops so they won't dry out my eyes.

I think I'd prefer wearing these for special occasions, photoshoots or cosplay rather than on a day to day basis as they have such a distinct look. I would order from Maple Lens again, as they had good customer service, fast shipping and very good, secure packaging. They have a nice variety of circle lenses on the website and a good size clearance section with discounted older style lenses.

Japanese Gel Manicure at Atlas Studio

Everything is better in Japan. Food, fashion, cosmetics, cartoons, music and nails. I love (mostly) everything that comes out of Japan (I draw the line at this, though). So a while ago, I went and got a Japanese Gel manicure from Atlas Salon in Costa Mesa. The Japanese Gel manicures can be a bit more expensive than your usual gel mani, but the quality of the products, technique and designs (I believe) are much more superior.

Atlas Studio is in a small shopping complex in Costa Mesa (Orange County CA), next to the Marukai Japanese grocery store. It is super clean, light and airy inside and although it isn't huge, it feels spacious.

Aaaaand, it just so happens that my BFF Mai of Rainy Nails works there! She was doing a trial period with them, where she showcased her skills using a model, so she asked me to come in. We decided to make a girl's day out of it and have dinner and a massage after she finished up for the day.

Mai and I! :)
Selection of gel colours

Japanese manicures are much gentler on your hands, as they don't cut your cuticles down or grind your nails down paper thin. They have a nice selection of shades to choose from at Atlas, and Mai can basically do any kind of pattern or nail art you can think of. Her designs are sooo varied and all really beautiful! I had a hard time deciding what I wanted, but eventually went with something simple and a little edgy, black and glitter half moons with rhinestone accents.

I am in love with half moons, they look so cool. I do kind of wish I had gotten another colour instead of black, since it seemed a little dark for everyday wear. The gel lasted a SUPER, super long time. I actually started getting annoyed with how long it lasted, because I couldn't swatch the new nail polish that I bought, or try out any nail art. I'd say they lasted a good 3 weeks before I got them removed and there were no chips or peeling at all. As I said before, the quality of Japanese gel manicures are so good when done right!

Here are a few more designs that Mai has done at Atlas Studio:

Gotta promote my BFF a little! If you're around the SoCal area and want to get a Japanese gel manicure/pedicure, go and ask for Mai at Atlas Studio! ;)

I love doing my own nails, but sometimes it's fun to get pampered a bit and I really love the Japanese style manicure; the designs are always so pretty and intricate. I only wish I could get my nails to be oval shaped, every time I try to file them oval, they end up breaking. I am doomed to have squoval tips forever. Anyone have any tips on maintaining an oval nail shape?

Geo Angel Blue Circle Lens Review

Yay, another circle lens review! Yes, I'm excited :p

In addition to the Black Magic lenses I received from Angel Contacts, I also got my first blue circle lenses! This is the Geo Angel Blue lens.

From AngelContacts.com:
The Look
The GEO Angel Circle Lens series offers maximum definition for your eyes, for a bold, beautiful look.
Can you say royalty? Flaunt these luscious royal blues the next time you see your prince charming.

Lens Information
Price: $25.00
Diameter : 14.2mm
Strength: Plano 0.00
Base curve : 8.6mm
Center thickness : 0.04mm
Water content : 38%
Lasts up to 1 year after opening.
When they first arrived, one of the lenses was really uncomfortable so I let Brenda from Angel Contacts know and she promptly sent me a new pair. Lovely service! They are really helpful and very communicative. The new pair was perfect. Contact lenses should never feel painful or too uncomfortable. If your lens is really uncomfortable, you may have a defective lens, have it in backwards or need to wash it in lens solution.

The pattern is very pretty and quite similar to my Honey Wing lenses, but more vibrant. The colour and pattern are bright and vibrant enough for dark eyes, but natural looking enough for lighter coloured eyes. At 14.2 mm they give a subtle enlarging and still can be worn easily. I do slightly feel them from time to time, whereas some of my other lenses are like air, but they aren't uncomfortable. Those with sensitive or dry eyes will probably get 4-6 hours of wear without having to apply eyedrops, but normally you'd get 8 hours or more without having to apply eyedrops.

Here is my video review of the lenses, watch it to see them in action :)

I am in looooove with the colour. When I was young and foolish (aka in high school), I hated my brown eyes and deeply envied a girl I knew who had mocha coloured skin and beautiful blue eyes. The contrast was so unusual and pretty. I'm not so adverse to having brown eyes anymore, but I love that I'm able to switch it up and have that jewel toned blue I so admired.

I have been wearing the Geo Angel Blue lenses quite a lot recently, they're my new favourites :) Keep a look out for a Circle Lens giveaway coming soon! I'll be posting it at the end of this week. The lenses I am giving away are also from Angel Contacts, the beautiful Geo Nudy Grey lens that are very popular with a lot of Gyaru. Make sure you keep an eye out!

Royal Vision Macaron Brown (Puffy 3 Tone) Circle Lens

It's been a while since I've done a lens review!

The Royal Vision Macaron Brown lens is one I received from my sponsor EyeCandy's (formerly Eyecandy Lens). I had planned to review it a while ago, but one of the lenses was defective and was uncomfortable in my eye, so the lovely rep from EyeCandy's sent me a replacement. This time it was perfect! You should NEVER wear a lens if it feels uncomfortable, circle lenses should feel almost like nothing is in your eyes, they may be slightly drying but nothing eyedrops wouldn't fix.

From EyeCandy's website:

Price: $29.60

SKU: MCRN-BR
Power: 0.00 Plano

Product Description

Brand: Royal Vision

Girls who've fallen in love with the sweet, adorable Parisian macaron will undoubtedly be enamoured by our Royal Vision Macaron series.  With rich and vibrant blend of 3 tones, these lenses will give your eyes look that is both sophisticated and mesmerising.  Indulge your eyes in the epitome of elegance!

Also known as Puffy 3 Tones and Shinny series.

This item is manufactured by Dueba under our OEM label Royal Vision.

How cute is the box that it comes in?? I love it so much, I don't want to throw it away! I'll have to re-purpose it and keep it on my dresser :) The Macaron lenses are also called the Puffy 3 Tone/Shinny lens, which I have in Violet and Grey. This is my favourite design and looks so pretty and fresh! It's also very comfortable and not too drying. I wore them for 12 hours and only needed to put eyedrops in at around 7/ 8 hours.

The pattern is subtle but still very pretty. It gives me a slight colour pop and blends seamlessly with my naturally dark brown eyes. Nobody noticed I was wearing lenses (not even my husband!), but I got a lot of "Wow, you look great today.. something's different but I can't tell what" lolol. It's my natural effervescence.

I think these would be a great everyday lens if you want something really pretty, but still natural looking. It would also look great on lighter coloured eyes, like blue or green. The gradiation of the pattern would look amazing against a lighter colour. I really want all the different shades in the Macaron lens!

Ruby Queen Violet Circle Lens from Eyecandy Lens

This is the second pair of lenses I received for review from Eyecandy Lens, the Ruby Queen Violet circle lens.

 From EyecandyLens.com:

Ruby Queen Violet

Brand: NEO
Origin: South Korea
Water content: 45%
Diameter: 14.2 mm
Base Curve: 8.6

Duration: 1 year disposable
Create your signature look with the Ruby Queen series, a premium range by NEO Vision!  This series is designed to frame the iris multi-faceted diamond cut, exuding sophistication, class and personality.

This lens has a really pretty and unique diamond cut pattern. It looks stunning on the eyes. They are quite comfortable, I wore them for around 5 hours and they were fine. They are slightly smaller than the Dueba Max Pure Pink, and didn't seem to be as drying.

My face looks super white =_=;; I used a mattifying powder from e.l.f. and it made my face a bit ghostly in the flash. Please don't think I am purposely trying to whiten my face lol. The lenses are soooo vibrant, I love the way they look! I'm planning to wear them on Halloween with my Cleopatra costume and I'm sure they'll get a lot more use in the future :D Don't forget to use my code ISHAHBEAUTY if you order from Eyecandy Lens for a free surprise gift.

I'm going to do more circle lens reviews soon and possibly even a giveaway, so stay tuned :)

Dueba Max Pure Pink Circle Lens from Eyecandy Lens

I have been wanting a pair of pink lenses for a while now, so when Eyecandy Lens contacted me for a review I had to try these out!

Dueba Max Pure Pink Circle Lens
Brand: Dueba
Origin: South Korea
Water content: 38%
Diameter: 14.5 mm
Base Curve: 8.6
Duration: 1 year disposable

A beautiful natural design inspired by the soft pink colour of sakura blossoms.  If you are looking for a colour between light brown and grey that will really make your eyes pop, then pink lenses are the perfect choice!

Please note that this item is manufactured by Dueba, under our Royal Vision label.

When you mention pink contact lenses, a lot of people would probably be thinking "Pink eyes???", but the Max Pure Pink design is subtle and really pretty, my eyes look lit from within. They have a soft glow and the colour isn't really super pink, it looks more like a soft pinkish brownish grey (my descriptive talent is awesome). At 14.5mm, they give a nice enlargement without looking too fake or being uncomfortable. I did notice a little bit of drying after a few hours, but I just applied some eye drops and they were fine. I LOOOVE how the Dueba Max Pure Pink lenses look and I will be looking at a few other colours in this series!

I will be reviewing a couple of other lenses very soon, so stay tuned :) Check out EyecandyLens.com for these gorgeous lenses and use my coupon code for a special free gift!
