Photo Diary: Halloween Fun and more.

The week leading up to Halloween has been busy and fun! So much so in fact, that I am utterly exhausted and looking forward to relaxing this weekend!! Here is my Photo Diary of the past week :)

1. My super cute phone, I bought a white Galaxy S4 and wasted no time in making it pretty!

2. Cat makeup for Halloween! This was for the little Fall Festival my neighbourhood puts on.

4. Went to Curry House in Irvine for Japanese curry! It was the first time Desiree and her family have been and they loved it. I like to share my obsesso love of Japanese food with everyone (*_*)

5. The obligatory peace signs!! Desiree had a Cat Woman mask painted on from Halloween festivities they went to earlier. That's the great thing about Halloween week, you can dress up every day and nobody pays you any mind!

6. Bought another phone case, a Hello Kitty glasses case! It's so cute, I love having a white phone because all the cute cases look better on white phones.

7. Mini Jack O'Lantern's for my son's Halloween party at school! These are so cute and easy.

I am now all Halloween'd out and am ready for Thanksgiving to come! Also I am on the hunt for pretty Christmas lights, because I plan to have them up nice and early. Hope you all had a Happy Halloween (if you celebrate it) and have a great weekend!

Halloween Inspiration: Cat Makeup Tutorials

I decided I'd do the good old cat for Halloween, since it's easy and fun and I have this super cute cat ear headband from Forever 21. I wanted to kick it up a notch and do a cat makeup look to really take the costume to the next level, so I searched for some tutorials and found these beautiful looks.

1. Last Minute Halloween Party Cat Makeup by fashionista804 on Youtube - a sultry, bold red lipped cat look that can be easily put together last minute.
2. Lion Halloween Makeup Tutorial by Jen @ From Head to Toe - this lion look can be easily adapted to a kitty cat and is more subtle and natural.
3. Sexy Cat Halloween Makeup by Julia @ MissChievous.tv - an intricate leopard print eye with two toned lips, that's one high fashion kitty!
4. Halloween Tutorial: Leopard Cat Makeup - by Makeup by Aggie - a more stylized leopard makeup look, very daring and costume makeup-like.

I am loving all of these beautiful looks and will be drawing inspiration from all of them. Which one is your favourite??

Easy Halloween Nail Art: X Marks the (Blood?)Spot.

Halloween!! One of my favourite holidays... Sweet treats and dressing up in cool costumes, what else can you ask for? I actually did these nails as an entry for a giveaway Destany was having, but I thought they'd make perfect Halloween nails! You could wear them as a complement to a zombie costume, pirate outfit, insane bloodthirsty murderer ensemble... They're just the right amount of dark and gritty 'Halloween chic'.

I used OPI Spotted as a base, then drew red X marks with a red Kiss nail art polish and topped with Out The Door top coat. So simple and easy, but it really screams Halloween! (Get it, screams... yeah) >_> If you don't have OPI Spotted, get a black nail polish and wipe off the brush until it's almost dry, then brush and dab on the nail to get a similar effect.

I'm hoping to get a bunch of Halloween nail art and makeup looks done and posted on the blog for inspiration! I have a couple of ideas of what I want to dress up as, so I'll be trying out different looks :) What are you thinking of being for Halloween? If you participate in it, that is!

Halloween Party! Cleopatra Costume, Makeup and Nails.

It's almost Halloween!! And that means Halloween parties :D

I went to one just this past Saturday and it was a lot of fun. Spooky sweet treats, crazy costumes and lots of creepy looking (but delicious) food. As I said previously, I decided to do a Cleopatra costume this year and I really liked the end result. It was super simple, just a black dress, gold sandals, wig, head dress, makeup and nail art. Most of the pieces I pulled from my wardrobe/makeup drawer, with the exception of the wig and head dress.

The classic Egyptian colours, gold and turquiose.

I also did my lips gold, mixing a gold pigment with clear lipgloss.

This didn't last through food though :(

Using Wet n Wild Black Creme and The Gold and the Beautiful, I did a black and gold glitter gradient, with a gold accent nail and a freehand painted Egyptian Ankh.

I got lots of nice comments on my costume from my beautiful friends :) A lot of them got decked out in costumes as well! Who says mamas can't dress up and have fun on Halloween? I don't usually drink, and can't at all right now (seeing as I am 8 months pregnant.... did I forget to mention that? :p), but I've never needed alcohol to have a good time. It's all about good food and great company!

Yes, she is wearing a Twister mat dress. She is Twister. We did not play Twister though.

I'm looking forward to dressing up again on Wednesday to take the kids out trick or treating. Honestly, I feel that Halloween is ALL about having fun with costumes and makeup (for me anyway), I don't enjoy getting candy and sweets as much as I did when I was a kid, so I have to find something to replace that excitement with lol.

Halloween Costume Inspiration: Classy take on Cleopatra

Ah, the Queen of Egypt. Such an elegant, beautiful concept, but come Halloween it always seems to be interpreted in such a tacky way.

I decided that I would take the Cleopatra concept and incorporate things that work not just for Halloween, but in my usual wardrobe. So less 'tacky costume-like' and more 'elegant chic'.

I initially got this wig from Walmart, because I liked the gold head dress, but the wig itself was SUCH bad quality. It was like straw and completely out of shape.. all kinked up and wouldn't sit straight even with brushing. This ended up being the epitome of tacky, so I had to look at other options. That's what I get for buying a wig at Walmart.

So then I decided to just use the headpiece and buy another wig from Ebay. I found this one for around $18 and it's MUCH better quality. It's actually quite nice and doesn't look too fake, so I can use it for taking photos too :) The only thing is, the fringe (bangs) are too long, so I'll have to trim them a bit.

I found these GORGEOUS cuffs on Forever21.com and I think they'll go perfectly with my outfit. They're not the stereotypical snake jewellery which is so prevalent in Cleopatra costumes and I'll be able to incorporate them into my regular wardrobe after Halloween.

I have a dress similar to this one already, but without the ruching at the bottom. I think it's pretty perfect for the look I have in mind.

I also have a pair of gold sandals and just bought some gold ribbon to hopefully make them look similar to the sandals below. I only spent 0.94c on the ribbon, so it's a great deal cheaper than buying new shoes for at least $20.

Last, but not least, I saw this absolutely gorgeous makeup look on the Sugarpill Cosmetics facebook page. It's done by @vegas_nay, be sure to check her out on Instagram! I doubt I can recreate it as beautifully as hers, but I'm going to try =_=;;

Are you dressing up for Halloween? Have you looked in your wardrobe to see if there's anything you can pull together for a costume? I think a diy costume using regular clothing and accessories is an easy and inexpensive way to do something classy for Halloween.

Halloween FOTD! School Girl Costume and Makeup.

Happy Halloween, Beauties! Finally got around to doing a costume post… Meant to do this over the weekend!

I wanted to do a cute gyaru influenced school girl costume.

Well if you have your old school uniform lying around, this could be a cute costume! I didn’t, but I got this one from Ebay (it’s a Party City one) and I think it’s really cute :) I also bought some leg warmers (also from Ebay) to give the costume some extra flair, but loose socks would look good as well (think japanese school girl style loose socks).

 

I paired it with some small pearl earrings, bow hairclips and fashion glasses from Forever 21. I love these glasses, they give off an ulzzang feel.

Makeup is simple,

Eyes: Urban Decay neutral matte brown eyeshadow, Eyeko Graffiti liquid liner on top, Ardell false eyelashes - 105 and Dolly Wink Long mascara to open up my eyes and set off the contacts. They are my Puffy 3 Tone/Shinny Grey circle lenses.

Cheeks: soft pink blush on the apples of my cheeks for a ‘sweet’ look – I used Boots No7 Natural Blush Cheek Colour in Candy Pink.

Lips: Urban Decay lipstick in Lovechild and femme couture Super Juicies Sheer lipgloss in Light Pink for pretty, glossy pink lips. I always associate young girls with pink lipgloss.

The whole look is pretty simple, but it’s cute and has gotten lots of compliments so far! I am loving the glasses and leg warmers especially :) It would be pretty easy to put together if you’re still stuck for a costume.

I can’t wait for tonight! We’ll be having a small dinner party with friends and then going trick or treating around the neighbourhood with all the kids :) It’s always fun with good friends.
