NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream – Addis Ababa

I really love the look of matte lips, but it’s hard to find one that doesn’t dry out your lips or settle into lines.

Enter the Soft Matte Lip Cream from NYX. This little beauty gives a soft, velvety matte look without completely drying you out or giving you premature crows feet in the middle of your lip.

This shockingly hot pink is Addis Ababa and it is not for the faint hearted. It is very saturated and opaque. Applied lightly it is softer, but still a bright colour (which I love!). The name reminds me of the scene in Aladdin where Jafar keeps getting "Prince Ali Ababwa" wrong "Prince Abooboo" lol  (^ﬦ^)

You can see the tube colour looks different to how it swatches on my skintone, it actually fades to somewhat the tube colour after a while.

It goes on very creamily and dries to a velvety matte finish. It does show imperfections or dry skin on the lips somewhat, so I’d advise exfoliating them beforehand. It doesn’t settle into lines, which is great… I mean, who wants wrinkly looking lips? Really??

After about 3 hours it does dry and fade a little, but the colour is still bright enough that you could just put lip balm over the top and refresh it. I find it a lot nicer in texture than some of the other matte lip products I’ve tried, it’s on par with the Eyeko Liptastik Glossy Lip pens I reviewed previously, although the Eyeko lip pens are a tad more moisturising.

Yes, I’m wearing my fuzzy leopard earmuffs lol. No, it’s really not cold enough to wear them, So Cal has been feeling like summer lately! I just wore them for camwhoring purposes :D

I want to get a few more of these matte lip creams, including a nude for the matte nude lip that’s popular with gyarus.
