DDF Skincare product info session @ Sephora

Is it Tuesday already Beauties?? Where did the weekend go?

On Saturday I had the opportunity to go to a product information session by a line called DDF (which stands for Doctor's Dermatologic Formula). I found out about it through the OCMomActivities Facebook page. She posted a status giving three people the opportunity to be a part of the session, which included a skincare analysis. After a few emails back and forth with Eve, the promoter of the event, filling out a survey and checking out the DDF website, I was all set and ready to go! At 10.20am I arrived at Sephora in South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa, shortly followed by the two other participants, Charlene and Lisa. Eve was there to greet us and give us a cute little goodie bag filled with healthy snack products.

Then the lovely Tia and Sarah from DDF explained a little about the background of the product (which was developed by a dermatologist) and started our skincare analysis. Tia took a picture of the skin from our cheek and inner arm using this little handheld tool

Then they broke it down to three different snapshots on the computer; showing your melanin or hyper-pigmentation, redness and inflammation and any collagen breakdown.

NOTE: I forgot to take a pic of my results, so that isn't actually my skin analysis below.

Overall my results looked pretty good, I didn't have too much pigmentation, broken capilliaries or collagen breakdown. What I was mostly interested in was refining my skin texture and anti-aging preventative measures. Tia then showed us how to use their micro polishing system, here is an excerpt about it from their website:

DDF 400X Revolve Micro-Polishing System is a breakthrough device that delivers microdermabrasion results that are as effective as a professional treatment. Unlike most at-home devices that simply vibrate or oscillate, DDF Revolve 400X transmits more energy to the skin with up to 400 rotations per minute. The gentle, yet highly effective self-warming DDF Polishing Crystals and the soft Foam Exfoliator polish away surface imperfections to reveal radiant, healthy-looking skin. The kit also includes a brush head to use with the device for daily deep cleansing and to help maintain results between treatments.
  • 8X better exfoliation than a scrub alone
  • Better absorption of skincare products
  • After just one microdermabrasion treatment, see immediate improvement in pore appearance,  skin tone and evenness, fine lines, skin clarity and brightness, and radiance
  • After one week, also see a significant improvement in texture and smoothing of bumpy surface
This light-weight device offers two speed options to allow you to control the intensity of your treatment. Device is travel-friendly and suitable for use in the shower.

I love that you can use this in the shower! Anything that can save me time in my beauty routine is a plus. And my kids would be less likely to get into it if I use it in the shower.. they are forever coming up when I'm at the vanity, getting into all my products!

Tia uses the Revolve 400X on my hand:
It felt really nice! The crystals are actually made with sodium bicarbonate,  so they start to dissolve as you exfoliate. This means no over exfoliating, no scratchiness and no red, sore skin afterwards.

My exfoliated hand with moisturiser.

My un-exfoliated hand with moisturiser.

Sorry about the difference in tone there, my camera didn't like the lighting in the store. I have to say, I wasn't expecting to but I really did feel and see a difference. My skin was much smoother, felt hydrated (even without moisturiser) and the fine lines were diminished. The moisturiser also absorbed much better after exfoliation. My un-exfoliated hand almost felt like it had a barrier on the skin blocking the moisturiser from being absorbed as well. The exfoliated hand also looked glowier (is that a word? Probably not) as the circulation had been stimulated. The effects lasted all day, which is pretty great!

The 400X Revolve Micro-Polishing System will set you back about $95 and comes with the polishing crystals, two exfoliating pads and one cleansing brush for everyday use (we didn't try that one out). I was told that the crystals will last you about 3 months, if used twice weekly on your face, neck and décolletage. I think this is good value, considering that similar systems start from $149 and up. If you are going to make a beauty investment in one thing, it should be your skin. Great skin trumps great makeup any day of the week! The product is available online at the DDF website, Sephora.com and instore at Sephora.
