Gettin' Matchy Wit' It: Pink & Grey FOTD

Following up from yesterday's nail post, I decided to a soft grey and pink makeup look to be matchy matchy with my nails.

I didn't want to get too over the top, so I kept it pretty light and simple (just like the nails :p).

Products used-

Face:

Eyes:
  • NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Strawberry Milk all over the lid and on the lower lashline
  • Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Gunmetal blended in the inner and outer corners
  • Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Skimp on the browbone, blending the grey out a little
  • Urban Decay Supercurl mascara
Lips:
My accessories for the day :) Silver and pearls.

I'm really loving pink and grey together, I wouldn't mind trying a brighter pink with it though and maybe making a pink version of a smoky eye.

What's your favourite colour combination?

Manicure Monday: Pink & Grey - The epitome of simple & girly.

Honestly, I'm not really a grey kind of person... or so I thought!

I've found that this colour is actually super chic and looks really pretty with a sweet pastel/baby pink. I wanted to try Zoya Dove, from the Intimates collection, but didn't want it to look too boring.. so I decided to jazz it up a little bit by adding some nail stickers I got eons ago at Sally Beauty.

Natural light

This is 3 coats of Zoya Dove with two of the bow stickers. I thought they looked a bit plain, so I added two longer stripes (supposed to be ribbon tails I guess..?) with Kiss nail art polish.

Direct sunlight

Natural light

I really love the look of Dove, it's such a perfect muted grey, without looking stark or too blueish. The formula was ok, a bit runny and patchy in places which is why I need 3 coat. Not too bad though, Zoya is usually pretty good formula-wise. My topcoat is one coat of ORLY Sec n Dry over the polish, then the nail stickers and nail art polish, then one coat of Kiss Me Nail Mente topcoat to seal the stickers.

I really need to do a proper review on the Nail Mente, it's such a good topcoat.

Incidentally.. this mani kind of reminds me of my signature down the bottom of the post! Yeah, I just noticed that.

That's all for today, loves... It's ridiculously hot out here in inland SoCal so I haven't been wearing much makeup lately. I hope to do a FOTD post soon!

NYX sale on Hautelook 7/30

Hey, hey, NYX will be on Hautelook tomorrow morning, July 30th. It starts at 8 am, so don't sleep in! I actually set an alarm so that I'll wake up in good time, just in case there's some really great stuff (which there will be) and it gets sold out quick.

I want that butt "naked" eyes palette and some of the Mega Shine lip glosses! I hope they have some of the Round lipsticks as well. I had one in Tea Rose, but my son decided to play with it and destroyed it =_= so I want to get another one.

Let me know if you pick anything up!

Photo Diary: Orange County Fair

Heart-attack inducing fatty fried food, rides that I never go on, animals galore, sun, dust and never bringing enough water: this is the Orange County Fair.

This photo diary consists of pics from my recent trip to the OC Fair.

My arm candy of the day, shiny, silvery bangles from Forever 21 and a beaded crystal bracelet my mama sent me.

Deep fried klondike bar. This was my husband's, it was good but a little overdone. Icecream was liquid inside and he was complaining about it not being real fried ice cream. I'm like wtf do you think this? A chinese restaurant?

Deep fried oreos. This was mine (of course, I am an oreo fiend!) and it was heavenly. I didn't think oreos could get any better, but this was like a powdered doughnut with oreo filling.

Super sized chili cheese curly fries stack. Crispy, melty, mildly spicy goodness. The whole family (4 of us) shared this and it was enough for all of us.

All Fried Everything. Even frogs legs.

The ferris wheel! The only ride I go on nowadays. I'm just not into the whole spending $10 on a ride that's over in about 30 seconds and causes me to want to vomit. I like the ferris wheel though :D

A photo of me! Pretty much the only one of the whole day, since I'm ever the photographer, never the photographed.

Oh no wait! There's another photo of me.............................

A super unflattering picture of me in a scarecrow cut out.

Awww yeah, total fashion plate. Look out for 'Scarecrow' on your local runways.

Little wallabies! They were very placid, seemed quite  used to being around massive amounts of people. Too bad we couldn't pat them :(

Street performers, they were all on stilts and were doing crazy stunts.

Dude went and climbed that structure, freehand and wearing stilts. The people who were sitting under him eating were a little apprehensive. Well I sure as heck wouldn't want a random dude on stilts to fall into my food either..

It was a hot, long, tiring and extremely fun day :) I'm kinda disappointed because I wanted to eat funnel cake and ice cream too, but I think after the deep fried oreos anything else would have been excessive.

Does anyone else find that the older you get, the more going to places is about the food you eat? It seems to be that way for me anyway.

Hope you all have a great weekend! If you're in the SoCal area, let me know if you made it down to the fair, or if you're planning to!

My Picks from the Missha Semi-Annual Big Summer Sale: 30-50% off

Yay, I love a big sale! I got an email this morning about the Missha Summer sale, which has 30-50% off everything. I went and checked out the sale and found my picks, which I will most likely be purchasing.

The Style Leopard Nail Polish
PRICE : $6.99 $3.5

Yes, it's another crackle polish. But the pattern and the different colours you can get make this one unique, IMO. And for $3.50, I think I can afford to pick a few up :) Probably the pink and orange!

PRICE : $29.99 $17.99

Everyone's favourite BB cream (well mine, anyway) in a LE set. One full size BB cream and a 10ml travel size. I need one of those travel sized tubes, so much more convenient to keep in your purse.

PRICE : $54.98 $27.49

BB Boomer is like a primer for the BB cream. It helps to set the BB cream, increase longevity and gives a dewy glow. This price for both of them is cheaper than the regular price of just the BB cream, so it's a good deal.

PRICE : $12.99 $7.79

I've been wanting to try this lipstick for a while, but I couldn't get past the $13 price tag..... YES we all know I'm cheap lol. The shades look really pretty and I've heard some good things about it, pigmentation-wise. The shades I want to try are BE204, CR310 and PK114.

PRICE : $4.99 $2.99

A $3 nail polish that's touted by one reviewer as being better than OPI? Yes, please. I've heard nothing but great things about this polish and there are some really pretty shades. I can't wait to try some of them for myself.

Well, those are the things that caught my attention and I will most probably be picking up this weekend. Let me know if you get anything from the sale! Missha have some great sales, so to keep up to date you should sign up to their email subscription. You also get a free gift with your first purchase, right now it's their BB Boomer.

Like I've said before, Missha does not compensate me for posting about them (although as one reader said, maybe they should! :p). I just like the brand and like sharing with you.

Saran Wrap Nails - Mint & Purple.

Hello, hello.

Meant to post this yesterday, but omfg I needed to catch up on some sleep. Between a long ass day at the OC Fair, super loud meowing cats and kids rolling onto each other's beds and waking each other up at 2am, I have been utterly exhausted the past 3 days. I managed to have a nap yesterday afternoon when I was supposed to be writing this up, thank heavens for Netflix...... distracted the kids so I could doze (in the same room) brokenly though, as they constantly jump on the bed and climb on me lol.

ANYWAY, I saw this tutorial for Saran Wrap nails on Nailed It and just had to try it. I have been wanting to do water marbling for a while now, but I cringe at the thought of clean up afterwards, so I had been avoiding it. This alternative is gorgeous and a lot less messy!

As a base, I used ORLY Bonder, then 2 coats of Wet n Wild French White Creme.

I used one coat of Sinful Colors Open Seas on my index and middle fingers, Confetti Belle of the Ball on my ring and pinky fingers and gave them the Saran Wrap treatment. Topcoat is Kiss Me Nail Mente topcoat.

I really like how it turned out, it reminds me of a watercolour painting :) I might try a pastel over a pastel next time, to enhance that dreamy, impressionist effect. The best part is, it's sooooo easy to do! If you've been feeling a bit daunted about trying water marbling, or toothpick nail art, try this. I guarantee you can't mess it up (ok, please don't hold me to that...). I would recommend doing a thick coat of nail polish and quickly using the saran wrap while it is still quite wet. If you wait too long, the polish gets tacky and doesn't lift away from the base coat very well.

I'm having a lot of fun trying out new nail art and getting lots of inspiration from some very talented nail bloggers!

Have you tried this style before? Does it look like something you think you could attempt?

Geo Olive Wing Green Circle Lenses Review

Wing Green OL-103

Type: Geo Olive (Wing) Series
Diameter: 14mm
Base curve: 8.6mm
Water content: 38~42%
Disposable: 1 year

I got these from KawaiiLoveBeauty.com, just like the Honey Wing lens I reviewed previously.

These are a more subtle looking lens. The green is a deeper, more natural looking shade than the BerryHolic Turquoise and definitely doesn't stand out quite as much. It's perfect for those looking for a subtle change, or who are easing their way into wearing circle lenses for the first time. The comfort level is pretty good, but I do need to put in eye drops after about 4 hours as they can be a little drying. Enlargement is quite natural at 14mm, and they don't have a thick black limbal ring just a natural graduated one.

 No lenses

Lenses in natural light

Lenses in artificial light

So difficult to capture this colour on camera, but it's definitely more like the natural light picture above (first pic). Indoors you can't see it much, but in sunlight and bright artificial light it's a nice colour and pattern.

Some full face/camho shots-

Yup, I love my Batman tee! Ok, I've only worn it twice in the past 3 weeks, but both times I took pics and post them on my blog.... now I look like I never change my clothes =_=;;

Overall, I really like this lens for when I want something really natural looking that still gives me a subtle change. I don't wear them as much as my other, more vibrant ones, but I keep them on reserve for those occasions where I don't want to look too over the top.
