Recently there's been a lot of buzz in the nail polish blogosphere about this collection from Sinful Colors and whether the colours are dupes (blatant rip offs?) of OPI's Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides collection.
(FYI I think only the 5 shades pictured in the poster are part of the ‘Adventure Island’ collection.. the others didn’t have ‘sea’ themed names and were probably put there just to fill the display)
When I first saw these at Rite Aid, I wasn’t sure if they were close enough to the PotC shades so I only bought Star Fish, which looks very similar to OPI Sparrow Me the Drama
. After looking at swatches of the OPI PotC collection again, I went back and picked up Open Seas (possible Mermaid Tears dupe) which I will post swatches of soon.This is Star Fish:

Star Fish is a lovely, muted cool-toned pink which is luckily not too cool for my warm skin tone. The formula was a bit thick and streaky on the first coat, but the second coat evened it out. I’m thinking I should have done a third coat for the swatch pictures,but in real life it looks good with two.
I’m loving this colour and I think it looks REALLY close to SMTD. For $1.99 it is DEFINITELY a MoneySaver and killed the lemming for me. Sinful Colors is a great low price point brand and I think I want to go back and get the rest of the shades just because they are such a good price!
Will you pick up any of the Sinful Colors Adventure Island collection? Or do you prefer to stick with OPI’s PotC?

I'd love to have those cheap dupes by Sinful Colors over here, too. Unfortunately in Italy SC retails for 7,10 USD so not really cheaper!

ReplyDeleteHey, you want to hear something crazier than to pay $1.99 for a bottle of those gorgeous nail polish? The other day I went to a Walgreens, looking for "Irish Green" from Sinful Color and I was hoping, not only to find that color, but also to get an even better price ('cuz Walgreens, sometimes have them half price), but they weren't half price, they were $.49. When the lady told me 49 cents I thought she was messing with me!! I didn't find the color I was looking for, but I got like 20 bottles of their best colors!!! That was couple of weeks ago. I wonder if they still have that price. By the way, this was in the Quad City-Illinois.
